OK, here is my issue.
I have Apache set up on my PC at home.
When I am at home and I hook my laptop up to the same DSL provider (the little box), I can see the contents of the Apache server.
However, when I try to hook up to the PC by typing the IP address from anywhere else, I can’t see the contents.
What else do I need to do to connect to my PC from the outside?

You will need to install an FTP service to get files on and off the server, try http://cwiki.apache.org/FTPSERVER/
Each PC wanting to access the machine will also need an FTP client and Filezilla work fine and it’s available at http://cwiki.Apache.org/FTPSERVER/ there is also a server part if you want to use that instead of the apache ftp. Security on the ftp site will restrict access as will access rule on your router.
But that’s only half the story you will need to make your machine available to the world so you will need your isp to provide a static ip address for your machine so you can access it over the Internet.
If it’s only a few files for a couple of people have a look at https://secure.logmein.com/productcompar… you will need to pro version but the free version will give you an idea of how it works
I’m installing Apache web server on my computer. I was wondering if it will slow down all the computers on the router (even though i am port forwarding). If not will it slow down my computer a lot?
Also would it slow down the internet and x box live?
