OK, here is my issue.
I have Apache set up on my PC at home.
When I am at home and I hook my laptop up to the same DSL provider (the little box), I can see the contents of the Apache server.
However, when I try to hook up to the PC by typing the IP address from anywhere else, I can’t see the contents.
What else do I need to do to connect to my PC from the outside?
I want to use home server for home use only. Can i set the server offline so our pcs in the house can connect to share files without any public access? And what port? If i stay on the internet what port to use?

Hackers build things, so I should have said Webserver got Cracked. Anyway, I thought this could be a great occasion to have an up to date string on steps to follow for diagnostic purposes to try and find out what went wrong and good recomendations.
The access logs on the web-server have changed, part of the logs have gone missing. (between 15:23 and 23:56 when I know there has been traffic.) Am I right to suspect the visit of a cracker or something.
One thing to do seems obvious, after checking the processes, just incase a keylogger or something has been installed, it would be wise to change my admin password
Any other important checks?
“$ who” only shows me on the computer
“$ ps -A” seems normal
Nothing really important on the computer, it is a play server for learning purposes. I ought to make a Backup of my website just in case.
Could running “$ sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/access.log” via an ssh tunnel have been my mistake?
