CentOS Blue Quartz FTP Timeout?

I have installed Cent OS Blue Quartz and am trying to use ftp to upload files to the webserver. I have enabled FTP in the Blue Quartz admin panel, but it seems it times out at (from Ipswitch WS_FTP) 0.000000 seconds. It works fine when I try to use Windows Explorer (My Computer -> FTP Address) to connect and then right click and click “Login As”, however it doesn’t work in WS_FTP or FileZilla, or some other program my actually tried.
I am trying from the same network the server is on, and I can actually access the site in the web browser, it’s just the FTP itself, but as I say the FTP does in fact work when I go to My Computer and type the ftp address in the address bar, and it does then let me login if I right click and click “Login As”.
I read somewhere it said about the network card I have in there, I’ve tried another one but still no luck. I’m thinking it could be a problem with the timeout time, not too sure.
Can anyone please help?

How do I password-protect my Apache web server?

I installed Apache software on my computer, which turned it into a server. That server can be accessed across the globe, but I would like to figure out how I can password-protect the server. I did some research on it, but I did not understand any of the instructions that I saw. Can someone please explain to me, in simple terms, how I can password-protect my Apache web server? I am using Apache version 2.0.63.

ipconfig not showing public IP?

My modem is a prolink hurricane 9000, ipconfig doesn’t show my public IP, but shows 10.0.0.3 all the time, even DNS and DHCP server as 10.0.0.2. I want to start a webserver, however I cannot access it from my public IP, but I can access my modem admin panel through it. I can host no radio server, no webserver, no games like Warcraft, but I can use peer-to-peer programs such as Bittorrent. What should I do? I feel so ‘limited’ to what I can do with this connection…
My friends and I are using the same ISP, while they can host games,I can’t. None of them are having the same problem I am having currently. Another thing which troubles me is that my modem administration panel is accessible through public IP just like a normal website. (e.g. 219.95.145.87)Doesn’t this increase the vulnerability of my modem and my connection? However, a friend of mine shown me that his modem is only accessible through port 8080. (e.g. 219.95.145.87:8080)
I will be unlikely to contact my ISP because my friends are not having such a problem. Is it possible or are there any ways to fix this problem myself?
I have tried port forwarding but no they never work, even when following guides on the net on how to port forward, and i am sure i did not make mistake because port forwarding isn’t something too hard. i’ve tried disabling NAT but then I can’t even have normal access to the Internet after I have rebooted the modem. Anybody knows about Hamachi? It creates a LAN on the internet, allowing users to play LAN games through the Internet. I am using it to play Warcraft and I am the only one who couldn’t host a game, however I can play just fine.
